Mawu’s theme picker lives exactly where you’d expect an admin color scheme to live: your own WordPress profile. Here’s exactly where to find it and how the choice actually applies.
Where to choose
Go to Users → Profile (or Users → Your Profile if you’re not an administrator). Scroll to the Admin Color Scheme section. You’ll see WordPress’s own built-in options, Default, Light, Blue, Coffee, Ectoplasm, Midnight, Ocean, Sunrise, alongside Mawu’s 13: Mawu itself, then Canopy, Tide, Dune, Ember, Fern, Emerald, Gargoyle, Skyline, Forge, Onyx, Velocity, and Abyss, each listed with “- Mawu” after its name.
It’s genuinely per-user
Selecting a scheme and saving your profile only changes what you see. A multi-author site can have one editor on Tide, another on Canopy, and a third still on WordPress’s default light scheme, all at once, with no conflict. This isn’t a limitation, it’s the same behavior every WordPress color scheme has always had, including core’s own.
Want it to switch automatically at night?
Further down the same profile screen is a separate “Scheduled Dark Mode” section, letting you set dark hours (like 7pm to 7am) during which Mawu switches you to a chosen theme automatically, then reverts the rest of the time. See scheduled dark mode for the full walkthrough.
The login screen is separate
Your profile’s color scheme only applies once you’re logged in. The wp-login.php screen has no logged-in user to read a preference from, so if you want that screen dark too, it’s a separate toggle under Settings → Mawu Dark Mode → Login screen theme, which lets you pick which theme applies there, independent of any individual admin’s own profile choice.
There’s no site-wide override
An earlier version of Mawu had a “Force for everyone” setting that could apply one theme across every admin account. It was removed entirely as of version 0.6.0: theme selection is now fully per-user, with no way for a site owner to override an individual admin’s own profile choice. The login screen’s separate theme picker is the one place site-wide configuration still applies, since it has no per-user context to draw from. See the Settings walkthrough for the full option list.
