Scheduled Dark Mode

Scheduled dark mode lets you set your own dark hours, like 7pm to 7am, and Mawu switches your admin color scheme to a chosen dark theme automatically during that window, then reverts to your normal scheme the rest of the time. It’s entirely your own, set from your own profile.

Where to find it

Go to Users → Profile. Below the Admin Color Scheme picker, and below the Account Management section, you’ll find “Mawu Dark Mode — Scheduled Dark Mode” with four fields: a checkbox to turn it on, a start time, an end time, and which theme to use during that window.

How the window works

Turn on “Scheduled dark mode,” set a start and end time, and pick a theme. If your end time is earlier than your start time, like 19:00 to 07:00, Mawu correctly treats that as spanning midnight rather than an invalid range. Outside the window you set, your normal Admin Color Scheme choice from the section above applies exactly as it always has.

You don’t need a dark theme as your default

Your everyday Admin Color Scheme and your scheduled dark-hours theme are independent choices. You could run “Fresh,” one of WordPress core’s own light schemes, during the day, and have Mawu switch you to “Ember” automatically from 8pm to 7am. The schedule only overrides your normal choice while its window is active.

It’s per-user, like everything else in Mawu

Your schedule is your own. There’s no site-wide version of this setting, consistent with how theme selection generally works in Mawu: each admin controls their own profile, with no option for one person’s choice to override another’s. See choosing your color scheme for how the plain, unscheduled picker works.

No cron, no polling

The schedule isn’t checked by a background job. Every single request re-evaluates whether the current server time falls inside your window and applies the right theme on the spot, so there’s no delay, drift, or missed transition at the edges of your window.
