Adding Related Posts: Block, Shortcode, or Widget

Three ways to add a Related Posts list to your site, beyond the automatic default.

FreeAll three placement methods below are available on every plan.

Ariadne already appends a related-posts list automatically — see where related posts show up by default. Use one of the options below when you want more manual control over placement, or if auto-insert is turned off.

Gutenberg block

In the block editor, add the Related Posts block anywhere in your content — the block inserter search finds it by name. The editor shows a real live preview of the actual styled cards, using your current Customizer settings, not a generic placeholder.

Because it’s a genuine registered block, it also works in any block-based widget area, without a separate widget needed.

Shortcode

Add [arp_related] anywhere in a post or page’s content to place the related-posts list at that exact spot. This is the simplest option if you’re working in the Classic Editor or pasting content from elsewhere.

Classic widget

On a theme using classic (non-block) widget areas, add the “Ariadne Related Posts” widget from Appearance → Widgets to any sidebar or footer widget area.

Avoiding duplicates

If you manually place the block, shortcode, or widget on a post that also has auto-insert turned on, Ariadne detects the manual placement and skips the automatic one — you won’t end up with the same list twice on one page.
