What’s changed in Spurn, release by release. Newest first.
1.0.0
First public release.
- A new admin screen under Tools → Spurn, with four tabs: Add, The list, Upload and Compare. Only administrators can open it.
- Paste text or drop a .txt, .csv or .tsv file. Spurn reads plain lists, Ahrefs and Semrush exports, CSV files and existing disavow files, in UTF-8 or UTF-16.
- Messy input is cleaned up: bullets, numbering, smart quotes, comments, ports, invisible characters, international domain names and defanged links like
example[.]com. IP addresses and email addresses are ignored and counted. - Repeats are dropped. So are subdomains and links that a domain on your list already covers.
- A review step with tick boxes before anything is saved. Shared hosts, your own site, major platforms, unknown endings and links over 2,048 characters are flagged and start unticked.
- Uses the Public Suffix List, so a shared host like blogspot.com or pages.dev never covers the separate sites on it.
- Every batch is saved as a set with its date, source and an optional reason. Edit, copy or delete sets.
- Three views of your list: By set, By site and A to Z, with search and filters. Subdomains are tagged with their site, and Spurn suggests disavowing a whole site when it has 3 or more entries.
- Undo for removing entries, deleting a set, disavowing a whole site and marking an upload.
- Export a Google disavow file, with optional comments for each set’s date, source and reason, or a plain list for Bing and other tools. Meters show the file against Google’s 100,000-line and 2 MB limits.
- A step-by-step guide for uploading to Google, an upload log, and a count of what’s been added since your last upload.
- Compare your list with the one Google already has, and import Google-only entries as a set in one click.
- Auto, Light and Dark appearance. Auto matches your admin colors, including dark admin themes.
- Tested with 105,000 entries. Spurn adds nothing to your site’s public pages and sends nothing to outside services.
- Deleting the plugin removes its database tables and settings.
